Whereas in Masterforce the Decepticon Pretenders were supposed to be serious, threatening enemies right up until the point where they became superfluous and morphed into lame comedy jobbers because they had nothing else to do. You knew the Dinoforce were comedy goofballs. Maybe it's why Victory did a better with its comedy because it wore its comedic bent on its sleeve the whole way. Those efforts seemed much more 'mechanical' in nature becuase they didn't mesh with the rest of the show. Or we'd be in the middle of a serious moment and someone would say something dumb and everyone would do the one-frame collapse shock gag and then it would go right back to serious.
So a character would give a big dramatic speech and then turn around and do a pratfall just becuase.
The slapstick aspects of, say, Masterforce on the other hand, just tended to pop up out of nowhere like 'oh, ok. This series leans into that vaudeville/slapstick/looney tunes vibe with elements of its characters and with the sense that even though the tone should clash with the serious aspects of the story, it's all done with enough of a wink and a nudge that it never really intrudes.
